Staffing Insurance: The Science of Being Productive
In this blog, we spend a lot of time discussing trends pertinent to the staffing and recruitment industry. We’ve covered the influence of social media in recruiting, the worst interview questions, women in the staffing industry, and the role of data in recruiting. Now, we’re going to turn the tables to discuss a subject that is universal to every industry and profession: productivity.
A widely used business buzzword, productivity is that high goal we all strive for. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get more done in our day? If we weren’t so distracted by email, social media, and our co-workers conversation?
The business definition is the ration of output to inputs in production. Or, a measure of the efficiency a person puts in compared to what they produce. In day-to-day laymen’s terms, it means crossing items off your to-do list in a timely, efficient manner.
Part of productivity means eliminating distractions. Don’t constantly check email, Facebook and every news post all day long. Even a moment of interruption can distract you from the task at hand. Try scheduling email times, or social media breaks so you stay focused one task at a time.
For maximum productivity, it is also essential to take care of your body. Getting enough sleep and maintaining a healthy diet keeps you more alert and focused. Exercise has also been proven to boost productivity. Not to mention it de-stresses you and clears your mind.
What are your best productivity tips? How do you stay focused throughout the workday? We’d love to hear from you.
